Due to an enormous increase in interest, we’ve heard the New York art gallery holding the Andy Warhol portrait of the late Michael Jackson have decided to remove it temporarily.
The 30-by-26-inch painting shows a smiling Jackson in a red jacket from his “Thriller” days. Pre-sale estimates ranged anywhere from $1 million to $10 million.
We are all highly interested in anything Michael Jackson since his unfortunate departure a few weeks ago, but what we also find particularly interesting in the painting is the tie up between the creator of ‘pop art’ and the king of pop. Just like Marylin was a few decades back, the piece is perfectly relevant to today’s time.
Always timely and relevant, TIME Magazine also used at the time Andy Warhol’s art on its 1984 Michael Jackson issue.
