“This is a story about who she was, who I was, and how she affected my life.”
-Douglas Kirkland
In 1962, over three weeks, renowned photographer Douglas Kirkland took pictures of the life of Coco Chanel. Only 27 years old at the time, he was taken under Chanel’s wing and guided through all aspects of her life. The young Kirkland had arrived as a junior photographer for Look Magazine, a big picture magazine in the United States. He had come with a fashion editor in order to write a story on Chanel. One week into the project the fashion editor left and Kirkland remained alone with the illustrious elegance of Coco Chanel herself. Read the rest of this entry »
The legendary German duo have been collaborating constantly and creatively lately, Karl Lagerfeld and supermodel Claudia Schiffer bring to life the legend of Frida Kahlo, the Mexican artist who often projected her own pain through self-portraits and extravagant colors. This beautiful editorial, titled “Bildschön (Picture Perfect)”, replicates Frida’s style and some of her most famous self-portraits.
Craig McDean, the talented and infamous British photographer who used to be a car mechanic and later assisted photographer Nick Knight, returns for yet another great and this time slightly fantastical editorial with über-supermodel Kate Moss.
Salvatore Ferragamo used the right ingredients for a beautifully graceful and simple campaign for their Spring/Summer 2010 collection, photographed by fashion favorite, Mario Testino, and starring the legendary Claudia Schiffer (who seems to be everywhere!).
Relaxed-Chic is what I would use to describe the Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2010 collection (that’s different than Casual-Chic!!!), and this modest campaign, photographed by the not-somodest Karl Lagerfeld, is a precise demonstration of Relaxed-Chic: looking effortlessly elegant.
Staying true to their heritage, the dynamic Italian duo, Dolce&Gabbana dedicated their entire Spring/Summer 2010 to their heritage, their pride and joy, for both the men and women’s collections. And this macho display of spaghetti male affection is solid proof, that Italians do it better!
Emma Watson, again collaborates with the celebrated British fashion power house and chief creative officer Christopher Bailey for Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2010 campaign, and may we say, while it is much simpler, it is a level further from the previous Fall/Winter campaign. This one has more mystery, allure, and maybe some sexual tension.
The Givenchy Spring/Summer 2010 campaign is a clear departure from the previous more dark and sultry campaign. Instead, fashion designer Riccardo Tisci along with photographer duo Mert & Marcus opted for the fantastical prints to do the talking this time.
For the new issue of V magazine #63, decided to celebrate the beauty of plus-size, with fabulous editorials and beautiful models.
Looking more beautiful and legendary than ever, the muse of all muses, Naomi Campbell pulls out her infamous fierceness for men’s fashion magazine, Hercules, captured by renowned Italian photographer, Giampaolo Sgura.
The second collection for Balmain Homme by star fashion designer, Christophe Decarnin is a clear indication of where he intends to take the legendary French house for men.
This is season surely has its elegant pieces, its beautiful pieces, its glamorous pieces and also its spectacular pieces. And the latter is why I love fashion.
In the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar, famed photographer Peter Lindbergh organizes a circus of beautiful freaks, one in particular is wearing those spectacular pieces, supermodel Mariaclara Boscono.
In one of the most exciting and original editorials of 2009, Steven Meisel teams up with Vogue Italia and bring us something fresh, new and we could all relate to for December, “MeiselPic”. The Twitter style editorial features the most prominent supermodels photographing themselves doing whatever they do best, in high-end designer clothing of course.
In the latest Wonderland November/December 2009 issue, photographer Matthew Brookes decided to take photography into the next level by capturing the “soul” of his model victims. The texture of the photographs is exquisite, against a simple and slightly shadowed background, and enough layers courtesy of stylist Bruce Pask (but Brookes lens still managed to easily penetrate those layers and behold the souls of his preys).
Fashion designer duo (and they are artists at that), Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren of Viktor & Rolf pose for a rare editorial (and one of the best we’ve seen recently!) accurately titled “Twin Set“, by acclaimed photography team Anusckha Blommers & Neils Schumm, in the Fall/Winter 2009 edition of GQ Style Italy.
