No one breathes luxury and cinematic glamour like Hermès, photographer Paolo Roversi demonstrates these qualities, along with the French house’s timelessness, while model, Constance Jablonski looks absolutely stunning along legendary orange Hermès boxes, Birkin bags and an androgynous bowler hat reminiscent of 60s “The Avengers“.
The always alluring Dutch beauty, Doutzen Kroes appears as “The Real Woman” in a retro-licious editorial for Flare magazine’s September issue. Filled with scarves, leopard prints, sexy gloves, a leather skirt and big hair dos. The fabulous editorial is photographed by Max Abadian and styled by Elizabeth Cabral, Doutzen shines in Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Proenza Schouler, Dolce&Gabbana, Nina Ricci, Chloé and Dior.
The youthful appeal of the new Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2010 campaign is exuberant, playful and quite sexy. Starring Lindsey Wixson, Siri Tollerod, Ginta Lapina and Daphne Groeneveld, the fantastic campaign is shot by the fantastic duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. The campaign video is prersumeably shot by Madonna herself, after interrupting the campaign shoot, under the guidance of Mert & Marcus, using the amazing remix of “Generations Of Love” by Phunk Investigation vs. Boy George as the soundtrack.
Photographer Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot capture the rock & roll spirit of androgyny in the September issue of Vogue Paris, in a fantastic black and white editorial , titled “Rive Gauche et Libre”, featuring female models Malgosia Bela, Daphne Groeneveld, male model Andrej Pejic and transsexual model Lea T, all of whom looking fabulous and moody.
Supermodel royalty, Kate Moss marks her thirtieth Vogue UK cover with a simple and Rock & Roll glamorized editorial that is typical of Moss (even at her most elegant self), titled “The Moss Factor”. Lensed by Patrick Demarchelier, Kate Phelan styles Moss in Prada, Bottega Veneta, Roberto Cavalli, John Galliano, Christopher Kane, Miu Miu and a leopard print Balmain jacket.
The enthralling kaleidoscopic effects of this fantastic campaign, one of my favorite campaign this season, is courtesy of the legendary Steven Meisel, starring Mariacarla Boscono, Anja Rubik and Magdalena Frackowiak. The Fall/Winter 2010 campaign captures Lanvin’s sophistication, and makes it most definitely a stand out amongst the rest of the campaigns.
In what seems like the backstage dressing room of an old 1950s Broadway stage, comes one of the best campaigns this season courtesy of Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection. Supermodels Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova and Karen Elson pose gracefully for the lens of the fabulous Steven Meisel. The three generations of supermodels from the ages of mid 20s to 40s really does explain the commercial appeal of the French house worldwide.
Confidence, elegance and contemporary fashion is what this fierce editorial is all about. Abbey Lee Kershaw poses for the lens of renowned photographer, Hedi Slimane and beautifully reflects the aforementioned qualities. Styled by Nicoletta Santoro, Abbey Lee wears Maison Martin Margiela, Yves Saint Laurent, Ann Demuelemeester, Balmain and Bottega Veneta.
For the latest issue of favorite, Vogue Paris, Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld, Fashion Director Emmanuelle Alt and photographer David Sims, gather their favorite Fall/Winter looks from each designer, in a remarkable sixty-five page editorial.
Anyone who has been following the latest fashion shows, trends or events, knows that escapism is a much sought-after concept in 2010. This is only the beginning. I am guessing that since the world is becoming, at times for genuine refinement and at times for convenience, a more and more global world, brands will evolve into new shapes and forms. Their scope will encompass the diversity of our planet even further and that is the aspect we truly endorse at SQUA.RE. An example particularly on point here is Casha: the London based maker of luxury Cashmere ponchos imported from Nepal. An attractive concept and here is why.
She is definitely one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, a fashion icon and a great actress, Scarlett Johansson collaborates with Dolce&Gabbana again (and again and again and again) for the Spring/Summer 2010 cosmetics campaign, and looking beautiful as ever. Channeling Marylin Monroe, “the sensual images capture classic feminine rituals and expose one of the most intimate and personal of feminine moments: a woman applying make-up in the privacy of her bedroom or sanctuary” (from the press release).
The Prada men and women get together for a great night out in the 60s. The campaign, is sexy, moody and photographed by Steven Meisel. While supermodel Angela Lindvall stole the show, the campaign also stars Daria Strokous, Valerija Kelava, Miranda Kerr in fabulous beehive hairdos, and Clément Chabernaud, Kim Dall’Armi, Mark Cox and Mathias Bergh as the male leads. The campaign is accompanied by a short film with a fanatsic sultry rendition of “Fever”, performed by Katey Judd (and Angela Lindvall does a great job looking gorgeous and lip-synching).
Always pushing boundaries with fashion, whether it was the latest phenomenon in social media, war or the recession; Vogue Italia never shies away from pushing buttons, and always staying ahead of the crowd. Causing global news worthy controversy in their latest August 2010 issue, Vogue Italia depicts the atrocious oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, in a beautifully conveyed editorial that is both extreme and heartbreaking. Titled “Water & Oil” by celebrated photographer by Steven Meisel, and styled by Karl Templer. Starring supermodel Kristen McMenamy; covered in oil, waste and the best of Fall/Winter designs.
In collaboration with publishing house, TASCHEN, infamous photographer Mario Testino released a book of exclusive photographs he took throughout the career of his favorite muse, legendary fashion icon and supermodel, Kate Moss. In a limited edition and personally signed by Testino, TASCHEN will only release 1,500 copies of this book, featuring over one hundred photos spanning from early days backstage at the shows to behind-the-scenes glimpses of the ground-breaking editorials they continue to produce for the world’s most respected magazines.
Standing out in the saturated world of fashion is not easy, but few have the capable talents to do so. I am glad to share with you one of the up-and-coming shining stars of fashion from the Middle East, NOA COUTURE by Saudi Arabian designer Nawaf Saud. His latest collection is shown for the time exclusively on SQUA.RE.
