Whether you think that Chivalry is dead or alive, whether you like it or not, one thing is for sure: women love Chivalry. Chivalry is the bravery to treat them right, it is the sex-appeal in us men, and the self-dedication to our love, passion and excitement for them!
A few months ago, we were very factual about a set of Living with Chivalry values, inspired by a brand we truly love on that matter: Chivas. It is time this Valentine’s Day to put it into action, as you can all benefit from it. Make all women happy, make the women you like happier and the woman you love happiest and they will all give it back to you in ways you could never imagine.
During New Year’s eve celebrations not so long ago, I noticed that the bottles of Veuve Clicquot bore a seal that read: By Appointment to H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. Purveyors of Champagne. This intrigued me as Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin, a brand born in Reims, France and sold as a French product, appeared to be affiliated with the British royal family.
In a year that saw sky-rocketing unemployment, disappearing retirement savings, a deadly flu pandemic and the several untimely and tragic demises of some of our leading icons such as Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, Patrick Swayze, Natasha Richardson, David Carradine, Farrah Fawcett, Les Paul and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein – let’s just say that raising a glass this December 31st becomes not just about celebrating the start of the new year but also toasting to the completion of such intense times!!

Actresses Kate Beckinsale and Zooey Deschanel team up with Absolut Vodka for a creative and alluring photo shoot to promote four new drinks – Absolut Bloody, Absolut Cosmo, Absolut Crush and Absolut Tonic Twist. The campaign’s tagline “every drink is an exceptional experience” features photos from world known photographer Ellen Von Unwerth and will be featured in male-oriented magazines such as Sports Illustrated, GQ, Esquire, Maxim and Details.

While this week unfolded as an exceptional birthday week for me, I could be in perfect contentment of having tasted some of the finest things in life, particularly after the prestigious Moët Hennessy & Financial Times Club dinner three nights ago at Mosimann’s, one of the most prestigious private dining clubs in the world, located in the heart of Belgravia, London.

The dinner, to which I was looking forward to since receiving the invitation about two months ago from the Financial Times, is a once in a year occasion for a lucky selection of business people in the city. Since 2002, there has only been a handful of these events, aimed at gathering some of the most influential profiles in business, particularly it seems in finance, media and luxury, along with some of the industry’s new entrepreneurs. I must admit it felt rather like a privilege and what an occasion on my birthday week. Read the rest of this entry »
“In a world where everyone is out for themselves, some choose to live differently: with honor, gallantry, courage. They choose to go another way. These are their stories. Live with Chivalry.” Introduction to Chivas.com
People say that chivalry is dead. In a world popularly legitimized by a self-centered consumer ideology, it is easy to see this. Values can become dominated by desire rather than virtue. Morality turns into just another phrase, another pop-culture symbol of what we should be. But if pop-culture symbols are merely to be admired, then morality turns into a self-serving construct – a mental abstracts of amusement reflecting unconscious innate desires. To act upon morality requires a chosen effort and a striving for a higher standard of dignity, something that separates some from others which is measurable only by the actions of their daily lives. It’s an integrity, it’s an effort – it is chivalry.
Chivalry is alive and well today, whether we phrase it in traditional terms or not. While the roots of Chivalry stem from history, it is more than a lost idea. Living up to the best within us still requires respecting others, lending a helping hand, and determination framed in a network of self analysis. It requires a fierce determination focused by love; a love of humankind, self, and spirit.

Following our friends at London’s hippest independent spirits brand, Brockmans gin, we have been invited to the launch of London’s new electro-rock duo: The Big Pink. The night was sponsored by Dazed and Confused, by the band’s prestigious label 4AD (who notably signed the Pixies and Dead Can Dance), and of course by Brockmans gin, who ensured a continued supply of exceptional drinks and brambles throughout a long night of fun, music and celebration.
Strategically happening just at the beginning of Fashion Week, the night didn’t lack of fashion hipsters and models of all types; in fact they stylishly overtook the scene, making the night only more so fabulous, at a midway between the best we could expect of both the East and West end scenes, right in the midst of Charlotte Street’s busy hub at Charlotte Street Blues Bar.
