The sideward gaze, swirls of smoke, the double-breasted jacket with top few buttons undone on impeccably tailored shirts, the white Repetto jazz shoes, the Breitling Navitimer watch, the Van Cleef and Arpels signature cologne and the unfailing stubble — the very name of Serge Gainsbourg conjures up such images of the stylish French icon.
I am very glad that Victoria Beckham found her true calling as a fashion designer; she is very good at it. Every single dress she has designed so far expresses elegance and articulate sophistication, and most importantly, they are all timeless pieces. For the Fall/Winter 2010 collection, the fitting is flawless, the colors range from bold to nude, and the little refined details make every dress in this collection a must-have (and the sunglasses too!).
Marion Cotillard, the face of Lady Dior, returns this season as Lady Rouge. While the first campaign last year (as featured on SQUA.RE) included a Lady Noire film, the second campaign features a song by Lady Rouge, “The Eyes of Mars,” a tune performed with Scottish rock band, Franz Ferdinand.
In the new Versace campaign, the rock-glam chic dose doesn’t only derive from the Spring/Summer 2010 collection (which we liked), it also comes from Georgia May Jagger, Mick Jagger’s youngest daughter who’s been one of the top models the past few seasons.
Ever since I saw Julianne Moore in “Boogie Nights”, she became one of my all time favorite actresses, and when she starred in “Magnolia” (one of my all time favorite films) she carved her place deservingly as one of the best actresses there ever were. To celebrate her extensive and varied acting career, and her classic stunning beauty, Harper’s Bazaar UK put her on the cover of their first issue of the year, January 2010.
Emma Watson, again collaborates with the celebrated British fashion power house and chief creative officer Christopher Bailey for Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2010 campaign, and may we say, while it is much simpler, it is a level further from the previous Fall/Winter campaign. This one has more mystery, allure, and maybe some sexual tension.
The impeccably handsome British lad and talented actor, Jude Law got more intense with Dior Homme recently, advocating “the essence of a modern man”… After being the successful face of Dior Homme Sport, the collaboration extends with Dior Homme “Intense” perfume.
Martin Margiela (the elusive designer who recently retired after over 20 years, but his team is continuing his legacy) is the least likely designer to collaborate with a very well known musician, but if it was going to happen, lead singer of R.E.M Michael Stipe would be the perfect person.

A major part of his work is a reflection on the obsolete technology of modern times how fast it evolves, devices that one were pioneering and innovative quickly becoming outmoded and archaic. The microcassette he has created for Maison Martin Margiela is in the continuity of this work, and marks his first foray in working with sterling silver”
As I hope you had a chance to see in our film, the highlight of the recent Pavilion of Art and Design was certainly the truly avant garde design of Carpenters Workshop Gallery. If not, check it out and I promise you will be compelled by the gallery’s groundbreaking design-art pieces.
In one of the most exciting and original editorials of 2009, Steven Meisel teams up with Vogue Italia and bring us something fresh, new and we could all relate to for December, “MeiselPic”. The Twitter style editorial features the most prominent supermodels photographing themselves doing whatever they do best, in high-end designer clothing of course.
In the latest Harper’s Bazaar, supermodel and actress Angela Lindvall wears highlights for the latest Resort/Cruise 2010 collections that are in stores now. One can’t resist but be charmed by her alluring smile strutting around in these cute yet elegant outfits and accessories on a fabulous yacht.
One of the most significant films of the year, with an all super star studded cast and already creating noteworthy Oscar buzz and rave reviews, “Nine” is set to please.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt designed a beautiful high-end jewelry collection in collaboration with Asprey. The coveted capsule collection is titled “The Protector”, and is inspired its entirety by the snake, which Angelina Jolie believes it to be a talisman.
In the Fall 2009 issue of DV Man magazine, I was mesmerized by an entire excellently executed editorial, focusing entirely on the current men’s trend of dressing like the “Good Old Days” (which also happens to be the title of the editorial), the three-piece suits, capes and fabulous tweeds.

Demi Moore is one of my favorite actresses (ok, not all of her movies have been up to par, but when she does something good, it turns out great). Photographed by the fantastic duo, Mert & Marcus, Demi Moore firmly graces the cover of December’s W magazine.
In a lengthy interview, the fabulous Mrs. Kutcher discusses the new direction of her film career, her husband Ashton Kutcher and being an avid Twitter-atti. From the interview: “Twitter is serious stuff for Moore, who seems to think the public wants to read frequent posts about the trivial details of her life. Still, her obsessive tweeting has made her into one of the highest-profile celebrities of the new-media realm, with 2.2 million Twitter fans. (Kutcher, the first person to reach 1 million followers, is now approaching 4 million.) She says she was initially hesitant about opening up her private life, but Kutcher encouraged her. Now she praises the platform’s potential to create a “dialogue” between herself and fans. “You post something and get your finger on the pulse,” she says like a shrewd media marketer. “You know what people are interested in.” Clearly a passionate Twitter-er.
