Have you missed the WHY launch? Ever since the launch of this Wally-Hermès collaboration in October, we have been avidly following such good taste and avant-garde grandeur. Here is a sight into the yacht that is inspired by the hulls from the Greek age, a yacht that looks like a dream concept but is a whole new reality. And this is not only because it is a living space, similar to a small private island on the sea, but because it can cross the Atlantic four times with no refueling, and is the most environmentally friendly a yacht can be today. Since its launch last Fall all the way to the recent Abu Dhabi Yacht show this past month, the WHY yacht has been proving its timeless and limitless potential.

Michael Schumacher, 40, agreed earlier this summer to drive in Felipe Massa’s place as Massa’s accident preventing him from staying on the race circuit. However, Schumacher had to cancel his return this week due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident earlier this year. Ferrari says Italian Luca Badoer will replace Schumacher at this month’s European Grand Prix at Valencia.
Ever since the designs have been revealed by the legendary brand, the world has been buzzing about the Ferrari 458 Italia. This is probably because the vision behind the innovative new car is one we value most: it pays homage to its heritage and to its country of origin, Italy — the country whose unique values simply are creative flair, exceptional quality and highly refined style.
As simple as it sounds, it is just as much highly powerful and we love and fully endorse the style of the 458 Italia. The fusion of art and cars is in. Car companies are now commissioning artists to customize cars while artists such as Damien Hirst and Richard Prince are making car artworks. Whatever it is, car art is a new trend.
Since 1975, artists from around the world have collaborated with BMW in their Art Car Collection making it the first car company to commission artists to paint its cars. Employing artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Any Warhol, and David Hockney, the collection has become the epitome of developments linking art and technology. The Art Car concept was initiated by auctioneer and racing driver Herve Poulain. His artist friend Alexander Calder first created the design in order to transform Poulain’s BMW racing car into a work of art. Poulain later raced this same car at Le Mans.
Following an incredibly enthusiastic response to this first design, BMW established their Art Car Collection. Racing cars that had participated in the Le Mans race were first used, but later BMW decided to incorporate their production cars into the collection.
The BMW H2R project by Finnish artist Olafur Eliasson is the latest addition to the BMW Art Car Collection. Eliasson has created the hydrogen-powered car, the most recent development of BMW’s ongoing Hydrogen research program and also the 16th edition in their Art Car Collection. A work of truly artistic proportion coupled with breakthrough technology, the vehicle has already achieved nine records for hydrogen-powered cars at Miramas test track in Southern France.
The car features a combustion engine and can accelerate from 0-62mph in six seconds and will achieve a top speed of over 186mph. The BMW H2R shows the power of bringing together the effectiveness of liquid hydrogen and automotive design.
The artist’s latest work, the BMW H2R is currently being exhibited at ‘Your tempo: Olafur Eliasson’, marking the first public appearance of ‘Your mobile expectations H2R project’ as part of Eliasson’s retrospective show at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. The exhibition goes through February 24, 2009 at SFMOMA.
