The recent death toll in Chile has caused an incredible amount of damage to the lives of its citizens and the infrastructure of the country. this takes place shortly after the earthquake that occurred in Haiti in January. The impact of the earthquake in Chile is devastating and has plunged the country into chaos.

Known for her generous humanitarian efforts, legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell organized a Fashion for Relief star studded event to raise money for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
The recent earthquake in Haiti still leaves thousands in tragic conditions where basic necessities are scarce and the struggle for life is a constant. Last week over 100 entertainers from around the world came together for the goal of raising money toward relief toward the Haiti in a concert telethon called Hope for Haiti Now. “He who opens a school door, closes a prison”. – Victor Hugo
School doors all over the world are being closed for tens of millions of children every day because of violence, oppression and poverty. Education is a fundamental part of the personal development in children, and its impact on the direction and decisions children make as they become adults is enormous.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt designed a beautiful high-end jewelry collection in collaboration with Asprey. The coveted capsule collection is titled “The Protector”, and is inspired its entirety by the snake, which Angelina Jolie believes it to be a talisman.
If anything can cure the ills of humanity and make the world a better place to live, it will transpire from the ideas and inspirations that are found in books. Literacy is the means by which our potential as humans is founded. Books are narratives that open the door to depths of our personal self that cannot be found any other way. They do so by expanding our minds to rich new possibilities teaching art to our soul.
Tragically, millions of children in the developing world are unable to access the power which is found through reading. The educational opportunities are unavailable in many areas and many grow up lacking the literacy needed to enjoy the benefits of reading.

In 2000 former Microsoft executive John Wood founded the organization Room to Read after a trip to Nepal where he came to understand the lack need for more resources and financial support among the education system. The people he encountered on this journey touched his life as he came to know the strength of their spirit and warmth of their hearts. He also realized the scope in which illiteracy was present and how the world could be empowered by teaching literacy. Since then Room to Read has built over 800 schools and 7,500 libraries and changed the lives of countless students around the world. Read the rest of this entry »
Gucci has announced its 5th anniversary charity campaign which will benefit the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). This year creative director Frida Giannini and world known author and illustrator Michael Roberts will work together to create an original set of items which will be exclusively sold in over 200 Gucci stores worldwide and online at Gucci.com.
Headlining this initiative is a new children’s book by Michael Roberts called Snowman in Africa¸ which is a sequel to the wildly successful Snowman in Paradise. Between November 16th and December 31st the book will be sold only through Gucci and 100% of its revenue will be donated to UNICEF.
As you know, we are avid followers of any innovative charity initiatives, especially when such initiatives are handled in uniquely appealing ways. This is the case for Cadbury Canada’s One for Me, One for You™ contest in which one winner will receive a $100,000 grand prize and another $100,000 will be donated to a charity of his or her choice.
But what attracted us the most was the platform itself: it systematically presents two mirror screens, and you cannot move your mouse throughout the left side, where you register to earn instant prizes for you, without moving it simultaneously in the right hand side, where it registers instant prizes for charity. You are greeted by the following introductory text: Read the rest of this entry »
Cruetly to children must stop. Full Stop.
This is the mantra of NSPCC, the charity sponsor of the Pavilion of Art and Design SQUA.RE attended this week, one of the largest UK based non-profit organizations that strive to create a world free of child abuse. Their mission has reached tens of thousands of young children in a quest to protect and help them live a life of safety, security, and know that they are loved.
The effort and the scope of altruistic benefit derived from the NSPCC are extraordinary. The lives, future, and emotional health of so many innocent children have been changed through efforts of dedicated people and a well designed strategy. The NSPCC’s has a variety of empowering branches that work together to create an incredible force of good. Striving to let children know that there are people who care for them and they should never have to feel alone, isolated or helpless is their mission – and they do this very well.
Water is the most important element of our body’s health and well being. It is the liquid which vitalizes every aspect of everything we do, and it is so fundamental to our existence that we often take it for granted. However, clean water is not taken for granted by everyone in the world. Right now, one out of every six people in the world does not have access to clean drinking water. That is 1.1 billion people who do not have the ability to wash, clean, and drink from a non-contaminated source.
The fundamental necessity of clean water is so unequivocal, so basic that it demands on a deeper level action from everyone with the ability to assist in conquering this challenge. Three years ago, a non-profit organization called Charity Water began a campaign to provide drinking water the less fortunate of us who are unable to get it for themselves. Most often when we hear about the collaboration between art and fashion we think of overindulging at decadent events. Most recently at the Whitney Museum of Modern Art in New York, Donatella Versace proved that such an artistic liaison can be as charitable and deep as it can be frivolous.
The designer was present to launch “Art Unites,” a global initiative benefiting the Starlight Children’s Foundation which is dedicated to bettering the lives of seriously ill children in the United States, and the One Foundation in China, which helps the recovery of devastated areas hit by the earthquake in Sichuan province last year.
The multi-faceted actress Gwyneth Paltrow was the guest of honor at the Children Of The City ‘Champions Of Hope’ Benefit Gala in New York last night.
The actress traveled to the East Coast after months of being in LA to film Iron Man 2. This was a highly remarked apparition for a good cause, in between her diverse activities as an actress and as a lifestyle expert on her new highly recommended website: GOOP.

As many of us go on vacations and spend time with our families during the holidays, it’s especially important to remember the less fortunate and give back to our communities in any way we can. World-famous fashion designer Roberto Cavalli and stylist/commentator Mary Alice Stephensen kept that in mind as they spent time with little ones at Free Arts NYC day at the LSA Family Health Service in Harlem. Cavalli and Stephenson both seemed to be
thoroughly enjoying themselves as they worked with the elementary students on paintings, collages and even presented some red carpet photographs.
